So! What a week...or half a week I guess. Tomorrow is our last day of language school. Which is partly a huge relief and partly a bummer. Four hours of class everyday makes for one full cabeza when the day is done, but it´s fun to learn some new vocab and verbs to use for every day. and the practice from the homestays has been irreplacable!
I have an abuela named Tuca, who is kind of the south american version of Granny. She´s super sweet, calls me mi hija (my child) all the time, and is super patient with me with my spanish and understanding it. We´ve had dinner together every night and long talks about past trips, the US economy, politics, elections, Peru´s past, her family, my family...everything! It´s crazy that she speaks no english and yet is able to convey so much to me. I think i´m really going to miss her!
We leave for Machu Picchu on Thursday, after one free day in Cusco on Wednesday to explore some more Incan and Pre-Incan ruins around Cusco and get some last minute laundry done. The Lavandaria´s are crazy here. I can basically wash everything I brought with me for the equivalent of...about 2 bucks. It´s Awesome!
Thanks everyone for the comments and support. It´s always fun to see what everyone´s reactions are and that I´m not just boring you all to death. I´ll write more after Machu Picchu, but until then...Chiao!
Hasta luego!
Katie

How's the food? Do you ever get to eat ice cream, and if not, how are you surviving without it? Have fun on your free day, and write if you have time before you leave for Macchu Picchu. What day do you get back from that trip? Not much new here, except that Grandpa looks fantastic and is getting around with his walker really well. He gets to go home on October 7th!
Hi katie,
It sounds like you are having an awesome adventure. Annie is doing well at Concordia, we saw her this past weekend. She asked if I had heard how you were doing. I will forward your blog address to her. We are thinking of you and keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Have the time of your life and stay safe.
Blessings
Dan
