Samai

Well! What a week!
I´m right now in Puerto Lopez, a little lunch stop on our long bus ride from Samai, spiritual retreat to Rio Muchacho, an organic farming program we´re going to be staying at for the next week. I´m sorry Í haven´t written much, and I´m sorry to say I probably won´t be able to write much for these final 2 weeks, as I won´t have access to internet a whole lot.
Quick summation of Samai- crazy, kooky gringo from Massachusetts named Ed ran the place with his Ecuadorian wife, Tanya. He was basically nuts, and overstepped a lot of boundaries with some girls and their personal space when they went for crazy shamanic healings, unknowingly I think. He really meant no harm, he´s just copletely unaware. So, we had a bit of a rough week with it, with the crazy gringo shaman and trying to relax while doing all sorts of nutso things and listening to this man talk for hours on end about spiritual enlightenment. But! I actually enjoyed myself, because besides that, I got to spend a lot of time alone, reading, thinking, meditating on the past 2 months, and thinking about the next few weeks. It was a nice little break for me, at least, until we dive into another 2 weeks of close quarters with the group at rio muchacho and then on a boat for 5 days in the Galapagos.
I also had a rough experience with a tabacco ceremony we all took part in. Ask me about it when I get home, because it deserves more than a mere few sentences. But, point is, no harm done and I´m feeling just dapper now!
Alright, I´ll try and maybe write a bit this weekend, when we go to Canoa, a beach town, for the weekend, but you might not hear from me again until December! Enjoy your last few weeks of November everyone, and happy thanksgiving!
Disfruta!
Katie
